SheWired's Shot of the Day: Kunis and Portman, Horror in Point Shoes

SheWired's Shot of the Day: Kunis and Portman, Horror in Point Shoes

In this case, Darren Aronofsky’s ballet thriller Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis as rival ballerinas teeming with sexual tension looks like the kind of hot train wreck I will gladly pay $13.50 to see opening night!
Both Natalie and Mila look perfectly icy, bitchy and hot in their ballet togs, while Beaches star Barbara Hershey’s return to the big screen gives the film a horror bent more like Cat People (lay off the surgery Barb!), but I’m calling this thriller in leotards with an obsessive lesbian edge  The Turning Point meets Basic Instinct meets Fatal Attraction, and it’ll be worth every dime.

There is typically a moment in every workday when we come across something sexy, gratuitous and completely pointless that we wish we could post but don't under the auspices of there being no redeeming value. Well, we at SheWired have made an executive decision to just throw all of our pseudo-feminist caution to the wind and begin posting our fave shot of the day, whether it be sexy, salacious, or just because! In this case, Darren Aronofsky’s ballet thriller Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis as rival ballerinas teeming with sexual tension looks like the kind of hot train wreck I will gladly pay $13.50 to see opening night!

In the hands of a lesser director  -- Aronofsky’s Requiem for a Dream and The Wrestler were both excellent films in their own right, although I’ll keep my thoughts on The Fountain, a film I know has devoted fans, to myself – Black Swan could easily devolve into a camp classic. But this looks more like it hits the that intersection of high art and camp, although with awards from The Venice Film Festival and others under its belt, Black Swan may have me eating my point shoes come its December release.
