Here's your behind-the-scenes glimpse of the Coldest Winter Ever Ball!
NYC photographer and ballroom archivist Sailey Williams has been capturing moments from the Ballroom scene on camera since 2006, long before LGBTQ+ shows like Pose and Legendary were even conceptualized.
In a new gallery shared with PRIDE, Williams takes us behind the scenes of The Coldest Winter Ever Ball event, capturing some stunning moments of RuPaul's Drag Race star Olivia Lux (Miyake-Mugler), Legendary stars Dashaun Wesley and Calypso Jete Balmain, Amiyah Scott, Kiddy Smile, Miss Lawrence, and more.
The Ball took place on February 19th and footage from a battle between Lux and Mariah Balenciaga went viral. "After being pushed back multiple times as a result of the ongoing global pandemic, members of the scene turned out for over eight hours of competition in New York City," PRIDE reported then. "Of the categories was Return of 'The ICE Queen' for female figure face. With $2,000 up for grabs, contestants were asked to bring it in an icy look."
