On Saturday, July 29, Cardi B became the latest person to be targeted by concertgoers who throw objects at musicians.

In a video that surfaced on social media, a fan was seen tossing a drink at the rapper who was performing on stage. In response, Cardi B threw her microphone at the concertgoer.

Well, little did we know that the fan in question actually filed a police report against Cardi B for throwing the microphone at them. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, “The day after the incident, the audience member who threw their drink filed a police report for battery, saying they were struck by an object thrown from the stage.”

After reviewing the case, the Las Vegas Police Department determined that the “case has been closed as having insufficient evidence.” No arrest, citations, or charges will be filed against Cardi B.

Cardi B’s lawyers released a statement to TMZ after receiving news that this case has been closed and no charges have been filed. “This afternoon we were notified by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept., that as a result of their investigation, there will be NO charges against Cardi,” the team of attorneys wrote. “On behalf of Cardi, we appreciate the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept's diligent and prompt resolution of this matter.”

Now, Billboard also reports that the microphone thrown by Cardi B at this particularly rude and inconvenient fan is up for auction to benefit charities. As of this writing, the highest bid is closing in on $90,000. The funds raised by this auction will reportedly be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project and a local non-profit named Friendship Circle Las Vegas.

Here’s the tea: this era of concertgoers throwing things at musicians needs to stop. Period!
