If you're a diehard Star Wars stan who also just so happens to love men, then you should definitely be following @FilthyClones on Instagram! (Thank us later.)
Australian artist and game developer Mitchell Manganaro is the mastermind behind the steamy portraits of shirtless Stormtroopers, and now that we've seen what the galaxy's finest soldiers look like underneath all that armor, we can't imagine a world without them! Anyone else suddenly really interested in joining the Empire........?
PRIDE chatted with Mitchell to get to know about his art and his sexy AF Stormtrooper illustrations!
Mitchell Manganaro: @FilthyClones was created to balance out the amount of Slave Leia art pieces out there on the internet (not really). It just started out because of a comment from a close friend when he saw my first piece. He mentioned "Filthy Clones and their iPhones," and I loved his comment so much. Even though the version of Stormtrooper helmets I am using aren’t clones, I decided to dedicate an Instagram to it and see if there is any interest from others for more pieces.
Others liked it so much that I a had a few requests, and then I decided to draw a few people whose poses I loved, which has spun out to people just sending me pictures. They all just get added to the queue, so there’s no real criteria. If someone wants to be drawn as a Clone, all they have to do is message me on Instagram.
If only they were dressed that way. Though, I am Rebel Scum through and through, and would follow General Organa anywhere.
Drawing has only been a recent hobby of mine, getting heavily into it around December last year. I’ve been artistic my whole life, but releasing my art into the wild and showcasing it in ways like this has been a recent development.
Honestly, people like Eugene from the The Try Guys or Keiynan Lonsdale, who I’ve followed for years, and watching their evolution and coming into their own. Growth like that I find inspiring, as they are artists in their own way, but for actual art, I’d say the people in local industry around me.
I’ve completed my first "Captain" piece, based on Eugene Lee Yang from The Try Guys, which is him drawn as Captain Phasma. There will definitely be more characters drawn, but these ones will come less regularly, so you can expect to see Clones daily.
