Marvel Comics artist Kris Anka revealed that there were plans to give the Guardians of the Galaxy hero a male love interest.

So we already know that popular Guardians of the Galaxy character Star-Lord is confirmed to be bisexual and polyamorous, but did you also know that the Marvel Comics hero was also supposed to have a sexy, purple, male love interest in the now-canceled Star-Lord: Grounded comic series?

Yup, Star-Lord could have had a hot purple alien daddy to call his own all along!

After news broke this past weekend that Star-Lord (who is portrayed in Marvel Studios' live-action GOTG film series by Parks & Rec alum Chris Pratt) was confirmed bi in the ninth, latest issue of the current, ongoing GOTG comic series, artist and character designer Kris Anka took to Twitter to reveal to fans that yes, there were plans to give Star-Lord a boyfriend in 2017's Star-Lord: Grounded series before it was canceled after only six issues.

"So back when @zdarsky and I were doing Star-Lord, if the series had gone long enough we actually developed and designed a character we were gonna try to make a love interest for Peter," Anka (who illustrated the Grounded series alongside writer Chip Zdarsky) wrote in a tweet, sharing the unnamed (but hunky) character's design art.

While it sucks that we never got to see Star-Lord get his romance on with said purple alien hottie, is there a chance that we're gonna get a taste of his sexuality in the live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe? Considering the long, complicated history Marvel has when it comes to on-screen LGBTQ+ representation, and the fact that Star-Lord actor and church enthusiast Chris Pratt regularly attends Zoe Church, a religious institution that does not "affirm a gay lifestyle," it's probably not likely...

...but a queer nerd can always dream, right?
