Iconic AIDS Posters
Out of the darkest years of the AIDS crisis came art and posters of both beauty and humor. Dr. Edward Atwater, professor emeritus of medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center, donated his collection of over 8,000 posters spanning 30 years and 100-plus countries to the library's department of rare books and special collections. The collection can be seen in an online exhibit here. This is believed to be the largest such collection in the world and represents over 30 years in the battle to end HIV and AIDS.
