This TikToker's Rants About LGBTQ+ People & Religion Are Cringey AF
Today in "things no one asked for" news, meet Cash Baker, a social media content creator and "TikTok star" who has over 16 million followers on the short-form video app that Trump is trying to get banned.
Cash has been making the rounds on the internet recently because, unlike most TikTokers who mind their business and make a dance video to "Savage" or some other viral bop, he decided to go on an unprompted homophobic rant. (We hate to see it...)
“Cash Baker fans outraged calling his latest videos homophobic, Islamophobic, anti-Semitic etc. In rants, Cash says he does not support LGBTQ+ community and other religions because of the Bible—rants and reactions in thread. Cash has 16.4M TikTok followers. What are your thoughts?”— Zaddy Noodles (@Zaddy Noodles) 1596916593
"Being a Christian, can I support the LGBT community? No, I cannot. So am I behind the LGBT community? Do I promote it? Do I encourage it? Absolutely not," Baker said in a now-deleted video on his TikTok account.
In his reasoning, he offered up the same old tired "love the sinner, not the sin" talking point that religious Christians love to spout to justify their homophobia. "Guys, you gotta understand. Everybody gets that so confused with us saying that we hate LGBTQ people and all that. But guys, no, that is completely, completely wrong. In the Bible it says that one sin is as equal as all sin, and it says man should be with woman and woman should be with man. So therefore, guys, yes, it is a sin in the Bible. But guys, everyone sins. I sin all the time. That does not mean I love you any less or look at you any different."
Big yikes.
But trust us, it only gets worse! Unsurprisingly, Cash also has gone on Islamaphobic rants about Christianity being the one, superior religion!
“Cash Baker’s rant about Islam that has fans outraged. Cash says “Unfortunately I cannot support other religions because the Bible says that”.”— Zaddy Noodles (@Zaddy Noodles) 1596916593
"Making up false gods and false prophets is a sin," Baker said (or yelled, rather) in an also now-deleted TikTok video about whether or not he supports people who follow Islam and other non-Christian faiths.
While it sucks that this way of thinking is still very much alive in many places and among many people, we do take solace in the fact that, as our friends at Queerty pointed out, Baker's viewership has plummeted by nearly 80 percent, with the influencer himself admitting he has lost countless followers in the fallout from his homophobic, anti-Muslim rants.
Sorry we had to subject you all to that. BRB, we're gonna go try and find a way to unsee these awful, cringey TikToks...
