Uh Huh Her, Karmin, Diana King Headline The Dinah Shore Weekend 2013

Even though it may feel like winter outside, the biggest lesbian event of the year, the Dinah Shore Weekend in sunny Palm Springs, is less than three months away.  And just this week The Dinah’s headliners were announced.

Electro-pop duo Uh Huh Her, featuring The L Word’s Leisha Hailey and Camila Grey top off the weekend playing the Dinah’s final night on Sunday.

Pop sensation Karmin – known best for their hits “Hello” and “Broken Hearted” –will perform at Saturday night’s wild Monte Carlo party during this April’s big ladies weekend. The American pop duo, comprised of engaged couple Amy Heidemann and Nick Louis Noonan, were named Rolling Stone’s winner in their annual Women who Rock contest, and Heidemann was featured on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine.

On Thursday, during a press conference with Mariah Hanson, founder and promoter of Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend, she discussed the importance of headlining entertainment at Dinah.  In recent years, Mariah has booked artists like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Ke$ha, hardly skimping on entertainment during a time when other businesses were cutting back.  As a result, she says, “The entertainment industry started looking at Dinah differently.”
In addition to Karmin, the first-rate line-up for The Dinah 2013 includes Havana Brown ("We Run The Night" ft. Pitbull), Diana King – who came out last year – and Kat Graham. The weekend will feature some of the top women in comedy include Chelsea Latelyfavorite Fortune Feimster, as well is Jackie Loeb, Gina Yashere and Suzanne Westenhoefer.  The Real L Wordstars Lauren Beford Russell and Kiyomi McCloskey will also make an appearance.

As always, Hanson strives to ensure that at Dinah, ladies “party with a purpose.”  Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend is partnering with charity organizations likeGLAAD, NOH8, Love is Louder, Equality California, and The Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center. In addition, the Human Rights Campaign will be a full sponsor for the event, hosting their first Celebrity Poker Tournament on Saturday night, April 6.  As Hanson says, “We always try to do something that reminds you while you’re having the time of your life that we still have some work to do.”  The complete list of celebrity poker players will be announced on March 1, and all proceeds from the tournament will go to the HRC.

The 23rd Anniversary Club Skirts Dinah Shore weekend will take place April 3-7, 2013 in Palm Springs, CA.  Visit the website for ticket and hotel information.
