A mom who filmed herself doing her six-year-old son’s makeup has won over the internet as the video went viral for promoting self-acceptance at a young age.

Caitlin Fladager posted the short clip to TikTok last month, writing that her child had asked to get his makeup done for the first time.

“So I started filming and caught the moment he fully accepted himself,” she added.

The video itself shows the young boy patiently waiting for mom to work her makeup magic on him, before admitting that he was feeling nervous.

“I’m scared,” he said. “Because no one ever told me that.”

“Told you what? That you can wear makeup?” Fladager asks. The boy nods, and she asks if he wanted to wear makeup before now. He nods again.

The two get back to it and even at the odd angle, viewers can see the child smiling more and more as more makeup gets added. When mom is done, he takes a look at himself using the camera, unable to stop from grinning and laughing.

“I think I love makeup, mom,” he says.

The sweet video resonated with viewers across social media platforms, with many praising Fladager for “supporting whatever decision [her son] makes.”

Fladager has posted a number of other videos about her and her husband parenting their two children, including one where she takes her son to go pick out a Barbie of his own after he kept playing with his sister’s. It’s the kind of parenting you like to see!
