Female Country Music Stars Unite to Challenge Sexist Radio Consultant

We're 100% behind those speaking out against these unfortunate statements.
Radio consultant Keith Hill may feel he's right when he told Country Aircheck, "If you want to make ratings in country music, take females out," but those he attacked aren't going down without a fight. Miranda Lambert took to Twitter to express her outrage, railing against Hill and declaring her support for female country music singer/songwriters.
“"If you want to make ratings in country radio, take females out,"- Keith Hill
This is he biggest bunch of BULLSHIT I have ever heard.”— Miranda Lambert (@Miranda Lambert) 1432836964
“I am gonna do everything in my power to support and promote female singer/songwriters in country music. Always.”— Miranda Lambert (@Miranda Lambert) 1432837284
Miranda's not the only one deeply offended by Hill's dangerous 'words of advice.' Martina McBride re-posted Hill's statements and started a discussion encouraging country music fans, especially women, to express their feelings. The result was a lengthy, detailed comment thread in which many passionately supported Martina. Martina often responded with thoughtful respectful, curating a fascinating and worthwhile conversation.
Jennifer Nettles also contributed to the support via Twitter, gloriously adding 'big ole vagina shaped opportunity' to our vocabularies.
“Don't worry babe. I see an opportunity here. I big ole vagina shaped opportunity. #yesisaidvagina #trynottofaint https://t.co/ELeiTURgXe”— Jennifer Nettles (@Jennifer Nettles) 1432694443
Though we're thoroughly furious about the circumstances, it's great to see so many exceptionally talented female country music stars rising to support each other and those who love the country music industry in general. The support seems to have Keith Hills scrambling to defend himself further, and according to the Washington Post he still claims he's just doing his job by suggesting radio stations play less songs by female artists. Hopefully the support radiating out of the industry will soon prove him wrong and we can get equality on the airwaves. You go, ladies!
