Years & Years has been on a hiatus of sorts since the debut of their 2015 debut album Communion. Ahead of whatever new project the band is working on, they wrote a song for Baz Luhrmann's epic short film/advert for H&M entitled The Secret Life of Flowers.
Years & Years' iconic sound combined the grandiose of any Luhrmann project has created the magic that is "Hypnotised." While a tragic romance comes to fruition, Olly Alexander's voice dances over a full orchestra and dance beat,"And every color comes to life/as petals fall before your eyes/You kiss me and I'm hypnotised." The music is as equally stunning as the floral visuals; an eternal spring breathing life into the characters and everyone watching.
"I wanted the film to be like a whole movie," said Luhrmann. "It’s a very modern love story, set in a country house that is full of its own secrets and it’s like a metaphor for our times—it’s harsh out there in the world, but in here, the things that really matter keep growing in an eternal spring."
