Lance Bass Cameos in Dance-tastic Tribute to Boy Bands Through History

Now if only he could give us the history of which boy banders were totally closeted.

Damn, if it isn’t the week of old music becoming new again.

Only days after the Spice Girls’ Emma Bunton dropped a new single, and only hours after the Jonas Brothers made their splashy comeback, we also got a new video from…New Kids on the Block?

Okay, so most of us only have a vague impression of them being some boy band back in the late ‘80s or something. And that there's a different Wahlberg than Mark. And that they keep going on tours that the older coworker you friended on Facebook keeps overexcitedly posting about.

BUT, most of us should at least be familiar with Lance Bass, former *NSYNC boy bander who famously came out as gay back in 2006, and has been bouncing between musicals and reality TV ever since.

Point: the new New Kids on the Block video opens with dear Lance serving as a teacher — a clean cut, librarian-sexy type if you’re into that kind of thing, topped up with a bowtie and some Harry Potter glasses.

“Boys in the Band” is a tribute to boy bands across the decades, as well as a history lesson to the students in Bass’s faux class, who…mostly don’t really care.

But it’s okay because we have Lance!

The vid references some classic boy band dance moves and music video tropes, along with calling out a good handful of boy bands by names, including the more recent BTS and One Direction, and honestly just kinda bums you out that it’s not 1D reuniting for a boy band tribute instead.

One glaring omission though — the Jonas Brothers.

Either way, we got Lance out of it, and it’s good to see that he’s recovering slowly from that time he didn’t manage to buy the Brady Bunch house last year.

When he’s not fake teaching fake classes at a fake school dedicated to boy band education, Bass has most recently talked about developing the story of these two fans who followed *NSYNC on tour into a road trip comedy, and maybe even bringing it to Broadway.

Though, with all these comebacks going on, maybe he should be spending his time pushing for *NSYNC reunion instead.

Or not. Are we reunioned out yet? Maybe wait til next week, at least. Please.
