Openly gay Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg reveals that he met his husband on a dating app.
In an interview with CNN's Van Jones this weekend, Buttigieg chatted about his rise from an Indiana mayor to the first openly gay presidential hopeful and how his husband, Chasten Glezman, is handling the change.
"He’s pretty good at rolling with it, and I’m lucky for that," Buttigieg told Jones. "Frankly, he’s one of the best things I’ve got going for me. I love him. He’s grounded. He keeps me grounded."
Buttigieg then shares how he met his husband.
"I met him through this app called Hinge. As soon as I saw his pic, there was something in his eyes, and I was like, 'I gotta meet this guy.' And then I did.
NewNowNext reports that the two met in August of 2015, shortly after Buttigieg publically came out. Glezman says that he joined Hinge because he "wanted a platform where you’re not necessarily inundated with hookup culture and sex."
Buttigieg continued to say that he was attracted to his husband's quick wit and that the two work hard to keep pace with each other. "I was trying to keep up with him, and what I found was that I’m still trying to keep up with him in a lot of ways.”
A modern-day presidential candidate, indeed! Buttigieg recently made history by raising $7 million for his Presidential run.
