Rene-Thierry Magon de la Villehuchet, who helped found the hedge fund Access International Advisors, was found dead from what could have been suicide in his Manhattan office Tuesday.
De la Villehuchet’s fund reportedly lost up to $1.4 billion that was invested with Bernard L. Madoff, a money manager accused of running a $50 billion Ponzi scheme.
Police told Dealbook at the New York Timesthat de la Villehuchet was found with injuries to his arms, from apparently slitting his wrists.
His death has not officially been ruled suicide, although initial reports reveal that could be the cause of death.
Madoff is accused of running a $50 billion investment scheme that wiped out investors around the world. de la Villehuchet's fund was hit particularly hard.
Madoff is currently on house arrest.
