Kylie Minogue Closed Out Pride Island & Gave the Gays Everything They Wanted

The crowd appeared anxious as we all looked at the ominous clouds above. Over the water, we could see the downpour of rain hitting New Jersey.

But we all waited, an estimated 7,000 of us, because we wanted to see Kylie Minogue. She was the big headliner of Pride Island (the 32-year-old celebration formerly known as Dance on the Pier).

When we saw the band start covering up their instruments with tarps, many of us thought it was over. But then, like an apparition, the Australian queen of pop walked on stage, wearing all white. That’s when the crowd went absolutely wild.

Kylie did not disappoint. She opened her set with "Golden," the title track from her new country-inspired album. She then gave us all of her classics as she walked through the rain to get as close as possible to the adoring crowd.

She even covered Dolly Parton’s "9 to 5."

The today before, Tove Lo, Big Freedia, and Lizzo all graced the stage at Pier 97, putting on one hell of a show.
