The beloved theater house chain Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is ready to celebrate Pride month!

Alamo is ringing in this year's Pride season with film screenings, new merch, and special events that highlight the LGBTQ+ community’s impact on the film industry and support its most vulnerable members. During the month of June, all mobile and online ticket orders will include an optional add-on for guests to donate $1, $3, or $5 with their ticket purchase to The Trevor Project, a national nonprofit that focuses on suicide prevention efforts among LGBTQ+ youth. Alamo Drafthouse will match guest donations up to $5,000.

“Cinema is for everyone. Alamo Drafthouse is for everyone, and we want to say as loudly as we can that our theaters will always be a safe space for our friends in the LGBTQ+ community," shared Shelli Taylor, CEO of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. "We’re so proud to support The Trevor Project in their vital mission and to share these outstanding films that we consider to be essential viewing with our guests.”

So what is coming to their theaters this year? A combination of beloved classics and some new classics in the making!

Tickets will be available soon, so you may want to snap them up quickly!

But that's not all! Additionally, a companion series titled Doll Parts: 70 Years of Trans Cinema will run in select markets. Every Doll Parts screening will be accompanied by a pre-recorded introduction and discussion with historian and programmer Elizabeth Purchell. Critics Willow Catelyn and Caden Mark Gardner, co-authors of the upcoming book Corpses, Fools, and Monsters: An Examination of Trans Film Images in Cinema, will also take part. Titles include:

Tickets and full film schedule are available at drafthouse.com.

To add to the celebratory atmosphere the cinemas are offering a special cocktail menu that will also be available at all films playing throughout the Pride at Alamo Drafthouse film series, with a portion of each drink purchased supporting The Trevor Project.

And finally, because we love to dress for the occasion, Alamo is releasing a new line of Pride merchandise available for purchase in theaters starting on June 1st, with $5 of each item going towards The Trevor Project. The new retail items include a bucket hat, t-shirts, a tote bag, and an enamel pin all featuring stunning Pride art designed by Grace Svoboda of Alamo Drafthouse.

And they are getting involved in the community! The company is also getting active in local communities with participation in Pride events across the country. On June 11th, Alamo Drafthouse will present a screening of The Mitchells Vs. The Machines at the City Point Pride Celebration for Kids in New York City, as well as join the NYC Pride March on June 25th. In Chicago, Alamo is teaming up with GRAB Magazine, the largest LGBTQ+ publication in the city, for a float in the annual Chicago Pride Parade. Further events are planned to be announced throughout the month.

We love this time of year!
