The blue team called themselves the Double Dads.

A family of two fathers and two sons has become the first double dad family to play Double Dare!

The beloved Nickelodeon game show, which was revived for its third run earlier this year, always features two families competing in an array of challenges, including trivia, obstacle courses, and messy stunts (every 90s kid remembers the slime). But prior to Thursday’s episode, there hadn’t yet been a family with same-sex parents on the show.

“In Blue, we have Oscar and Marcos and their dads Liberty and Bryan. They love football and they love each other. They are team Double Dads,” host Liza Koshy introduced the team. “That’s right! It’s about time we had double dads on Double Dare.”

Koshy asked the family some questions, and the dads revealed they adopted their sons six years ago and that one dad goes by “Dad” and the other by “Papa.”

While it may not seem like that big of a deal, or perhaps might even seem a little intrusive, it gives kids watching the show who haven’t had the opportunity to meet same-sex families in real life the opportunity to understand a little better that they’re really just like any other family.

“Double Dads and double sons on Double Dare,” Koshy said. “I love that. I love that.”
