Archie Panjabi Is Leaving The Good Wife May Be the Worst News You Hear Today

Nooooooooooooo!

For fans of mysterious, sexy bisexual investigators in leather skirts and boots, this may be the worst news you hear today (other than actual news that affects people’s lives and such). Emmy winner Archie Panjabi, who plays the formidable Kalinda Sharma on The Good Wife, will exit the series at the end of this, the show’s 6th season, reports People. The announcement comes on the heels major character Josh Charles’ exit near the end of the 5th season.

At The Good Wife’s inception Kalinda was an instant fan favorite, using her wiles, and kicking ass to extract information for anyone and everyone. She slammed tequila shooters with Alicia (Julianna Margulies), slept with FBI agents, attorneys, cops, and colleagues of both genders, and she was one of many outstanding reasons to tune in.

While we’re sad to see Archie and Kalinda go, the actress is slated to star in a yet-to-be-determined pilot for 20th Century Fox TV, according to People.

"It's been a pleasure to write for her, and we'll be sad to see her go; but we still have her for the rest of season six, so let's not exhaust our good-byes yet. We look forward to meeting all the wonderful new characters Archie brings to the screen. But either way, we're keeping the boots,” said Robert and Michelle King, the series’ creators.

The Good Wife has always been just about the best network drama out there, and while the writing has continued to blow the doors off of other dramas including on network and cable, admittedly, Kalinda’s role hasn’t seemed as pivotal as it was during the show’s first three seasons. Audiences revolted against a plot misstep in which the writers introduced Kalinda’s abusive husband. Since then, she’s been under-utilized. Here’s hoping that Kalinda gets the exit she deserves.
