Friday, Nov. 20, is a big day for those who live in LA and NY. The long-awaited lesbian love story Carol, starring the luminous Cate Blanchett as a socialite who falls for a shop girl (Rooney Mara) in 1950s New York, comes out in theaters. The film, from out director Todd Haynes and based on the 1952 novel The Price of Salt from Patricia Highsmith,  won raves at Cannes last May and has continued to garner accolades from film fest to film fest.

Two-time Oscar winner, Blanchett, appeared on Good Morning America on Tuesday to promote the film, and she's pretty much as sublime as her character is in Carol. In the interview she discusses the universality of love, her chemistry with Mara. Also, Carol costar Sarah Paulson--who plays Carol's best friend and ex-lover--weighs in with some very kind words about Blanchett.
