Freeheld stars Ellen Page and Julianne Moore were busy women at the Toronto International Film Fest this weekend, each attending back-to-back premieres for films in which they starred. On Saturday, Ellen took to the red carpet with her friend and Into the Forest costar Evan Rachel Wood. The duo plays sisters in director Patricia Rozema’s (When Night is Falling, I’ve Heard the Mermaids Singing) meditation on a dystopian future. Meanwhile, Julianne Moore took to the red carpet on Saturday for Maggie’s Plan, from director Rebecca Miller (The Private Lives of Pippa Lee). That film costars Greta Gerwig, Ethan Hawke, and Maya Rudolph.
Sadly there are no pics of Ellen and Julianne together for the Freeheld premiere, but all can be forgiven since Ellen made her red carpet debut with her girlfriend Samantha Thomas. The Freeheld stars did pose with Stacie Andree, however. She’s the woman who lost her partner that Ellen portrays in the film.
Without further ado, here are queer women and their allies crushing the red carpet at TIFF!
