Being born bisexual is hands down the best thing that has ever happened to me. I absolutely love it. Being bi made me the man I am today. There are, however, a few things that suck about dating as a bisexual. Bisexuals face unique challenges that monosexuals don’t experience.

Here are some of the problematic assumptions bisexuals face while dating:

1. We can’t be monogamous. Misfits Shade Gif
Cheaters cheat regardless of sexual orientation. Straight people cheat. Gay people cheat. Transgender people cheat. Anyone can cheat. Being bisexual doesn’t make you more or less likely to cheat.

2. We’re kinky or into group sex. Beyonce shade gif
It’s like people think we invented threesomes or something. Anyone can be kinky and anyone can have threesomes. It has nothing to do with bisexuality.

3. We’re in denial. Shit got real gif
Many men and women use bisexuality as a stepping-stone to homosexuality. That’s great! Whatever it takes you to feel comfortable with your sexuality. For some of us though, it’s not a pit stop. It’s our final destination. Treating us like we’re confused or in denial is downright hurtful.

4. We can never be satisfied. Nikki Minaj No gif
We’re not going to leave you for the opposite sex. We love you, and want to be with you. Not to sound cliché, but it’s what’s under the skin that counts.

5. Our sexuality disappears once we're in a monogamous relationship. Liz Lemon Rude gif
Even though we’re dating a man or a woman, we’re still bisexual. Our sexual identity doesn’t disappear because we’re in an exclusive relationship.

6. Lastly, while not an assumption, dates often focus on our sexuality. Beyonce stop gif
This is tough to navigate. As bisexuals, we're happy to answer any questions that you have about bisexuality. We absolutely want to clear up any misconceptions. It does, however, become frustrating when that’s the only topic of discussion. There’s more to us than our sexuality.
