Glenn Close's performance in Albert Nobbs has already landed her and costar Janet McTeer Golden Globe nominations for the roles as 19th century women living as men to escape the hardships of womanhood in the era. And both actresses could be well on their way to earning Oscar nods for their roles in the film that has been Close’s passion project for 20-plus years, since she first played the role on stage in 1982.

Rodrigo Garcia directs the film, which also stars The Kids Are All Right’s Mia Wasikowska, Aaron Johnson, Brendan Gleeson, Brenda Fricker, Pauline Collins and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Now, the makers of the film have released a featurette on the how hair and make-up artists transformed Close into Albert Nobbs for the screen.

Below are a few stills from the featurette.

Albert Nobbs will be released on Jan. 27. Watch the make-up featurette here.
