To all my fellow news and policy wonks out there, today's shot of the day is for you. Out lesbian radio personality, MSNBC host, and all-around intellectual hottie Rachel Maddow has always been intriguing, if this 1998 photo is any indication. The striking image is titled "Rachel Maddow At Home In My Studio," and appears in "Del LaGrace Volcano: A Mid-Career Retrospective," currently making its U.S. debut at the Leslie-Lohman museum of Gay and Lesbian Art in New York. Volcano is a self-described "gender abolitionist" who has photographed an impressive collection of queer people throughout the years.
Maddow's combat boots, not-yet-ironically-hipster trout T-shirt, close-cropped hair, and pensive expression are pretty much the epitome of everything that was good about the 1990s. Huffington Post found the perfect soundtrack to accompany the image - Ani DiFranco's "32 Flavors."
I don't know about you, but I'm definitely wishing Rachel Maddow was at home in my studio right now.
