De’borah, the only out contestant featured during the third season of The Voice, could be headed for the Billboard 100 charts with her new single, “Coming Out Looking Good,” which is set to drop on March 12th exclusively on Liquid Spins.com.
The Chicago native says she hopes to spread the important message that you should be yourself, and her first single harnesses her passion for raising awareness about LGBT rights and the bullying epidemic that has spread nationwide. De’borah’s motto, “music will always reflect who I am.”
“We’re going through a tough time in America right now with bullying and it’s never too late to be educated. Even the wise needs wisdom,” she said. “I’m happy to be a part of this movement. Any step that I can take in motivating or encouraging youth and society in any way, I’m happy to be a part of. I have seven younger siblings myself and I want them to be able to be themselves, straight or gay.”
Co-produced by WuLi Records producers Ryan T. McGuire and Louis Svitek, and De’borah’s older brother Troy (TJ) Garner, the song features choir backgrounds and a strong, anthemic beat. De’Borah was a member of Team Christina on The Voice, but got her start performing at her local church, and as part of her high school music department. She was recently named to Shewired’s Top 10 Hottest Butches list for 2012.
