Out Actress Ashleigh Sumner (And Then Came Lola) recently opened up about her character in Bruno and Earlene Go to Vegas, and what it’s like filming in the middle of nowhere during a minute long interview posted on Vimeo.

Sumner revealed that her character Earlene is “a mess, she drinks too much, she smokes too much, and she’s carrying a bit of a burden being in a relationship that she hates,” Sumner said.  “She’s a runner, she’s on the run,”

Bruno and Earlene explores the bond between Earlene and Bruno (Miles Szanto), an intersex teen from Venice Beach, who is another lost soul trying to find his way.  Together, they embark on a road trip that ends in the desert where the two encounter a cast of characters including, a sexually confused carjacker, a pair of Scottish ex-strippers, a tap-dancing drag queen and many more like-minded runaways.  Simon Savory (The Pit and the Pendulum/House of Usher) is the flick’s writer/director.

When asked about the filming conditions, Sumner said “because we’re out in the middle of nowhere, there’s no cell service and no internet, so it’s amazing how people just sit and talk with each other now,” she said.  “There’s an ease about that, kinda of a real beauty about that.”

There’s no release date yet, but you can check out Sumner’s interview here.
