It's that time of year, when Out rolls out its much-anticipated Out 100, and this year, Out.com kicks it off with none other than Kelly McGillis, the iconic, now out, lesbian leading lady who wowed the boys -and girls-in her stand-out roles throughout the eighties.
The stunning and thoughtful actress, who starred opposite Tom Cruise and Harrison Ford in Top Gun and Witness, respectively, really bared her acting chops starring as Jodie Foster's dogged attorney in The Accused.
Last April, in a taped interview with SheWired vlogger Jennifer Corday, McGillis answered questions about her sexuality coming out as a lesbian with grace and candor --and setting off a media firestorm.
Ostensibly off the entertainment radar for a couple of decades, McGillis, 52, delivered a strong turn in the lesbian-themed indie flick The Monkey's Mask in 2000. She later appeared as a tough-as-nails Army Colonel defending a 'don't ask, don't tell' case on The L Word.
Following her coming out, McGillis garnered critical praise starring in Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes. Next up, she's slated to star in the UK touring company of Terrance McNally's Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune.
This season, Out's school-themed Out 100, a beautifully photographed must-see-labels McGillis the school 'Daydreamer.' See for yourselves!
