Mac from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Comes Out as Gay
Your favorite closeted character, Mac, from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, has finally come out as gay. In the past couple of seasons, the writers of It’s Always Sunny have had a field day cleverly insinuating that Mac is closeted. And Charlie, Dee, Dennis, and Frank are all painfully aware of Mac’s latent homosexuality.
What’s more, the gang couldn’t care less. In fact, they just want him to come out already. Mac has almost come out multiple times, like in season 10’s "The Gang Misses the Boat", when Mac brings home “Dusty” (who they wrongly assumes is a man, but is actually a female prostitute Mac pretends to have sex with in exchange for angel dust).
*Spoilers ahead* but I mean, like, nothing you didn’t already know...
But in the most recent episode, Mac, after discovering two members of his new church are gay, decides he needs to go “convert them.” After the same-sex couple states how incredibly offense that is, they ask him how he would like it if they tried to convert him to be gay. Mac replies, “There’s no way you could convert me to your lifestyle.”
Then five minutes later pops up on the screen, and Mac comes out to the gang saying, “Well, I’m gay.” He receives responses of “Yeah,” “No shit,” and “(I knew) from the day we met.”
Now, this is a two-part season finale, so knowing Mac, he could decide he’s actually straight in the final episode, and simply failed a test from God. Who knows with him? But I don’t think that’s the case … We’ll just have to watch the season finale to find out.
