Surprise, Surprise: This Survey Shows Grindr Makes People More Miserable

Are dating apps hindering our mental happiness and overall well-being?

In an effort to measure the amount of happiness or unhappiness mobile apps bring to a user's life, Time Well Spent (a tech/media insider company that specializes in awareness for troubling digital trends) recently held a survey asking some 200,000 iPhone owners to rate their most used apps.

As can be expected, general relaxation, music, and podcast apps ranked very well, holding mostly 99% positive feedback ratings from users citing positive experience.

And headlining the unhappiness list was none other than the infamous hook-up app, Grindr.

About 77% of Grindr users reported unhappiness, regret, and even paranoia following their experinece with the primarily gay male hook-up staple. Researchers also discovered that the amount of time users spend on any of their most used apps can also impact their happiness levels. With Grindr, for example, the more you used it, the more rapidly it would run you down emotionally.

Holding the silver metal for most "unhappy" app was Candy Crush Saga, with a 71%, followed by Facebook at 64%.

If this is the case for you, maybe it's time to take a break from the grind. After all, you'll always have Tinder...
