A New Rihanna Album Is Coming Sooner Than You Think

The ninth studio album from Rihanna is coming earlier than you think… and might even be released in 2023!

Following her jaw-dropping performance at the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show, Rihanna is on the cover of British Vogue and opened up about everything – pregnancy, business, and music, among other topics.

During the interview with British Vogue, the popstar was directly asked if a new album might still be released in 2023. “I want it to be this year. Like, honestly, it’d be ridiculous if it’s not this year,” she responded.

Rihanna added, “But I just want to have fun. I just want to make music and make videos. And I need the right background music with the visuals. I can’t just go shoot a video to me talking.”

The publication also noted that Rihanna appeared more interested in making new music videos than in making new music, though it is acknowledged that these visuals would indeed be a result of a new album.

Elsewhere in the interview, Rihanna reflected on the quality of her latest studio album, 2016’s Anti, and how much pressure she feels to follow it up with something new. “When you come off of an album like Anti… In hindsight, it really is my most brilliant album,” she declared. “I say that because, in the moment, I didn’t realize it. But it always felt like the most cohesive album I’ve ever made.”

She continued, “When you break it down and you realize this album goes from ‘Work’ to ‘Kiss It Better’ to ‘Needed Me’ to ‘Love on the Brain’ to ‘Sex With Me’ to ‘Desperado.’ And somehow it all fits and not for a second did you glitch?”
