The Marvel Cinematic Universe is slowly but surely becoming more and more diverse with each passing year, and one of the titles we've been looking forward to the most in this current fourth phase of the popular superhero media franchise is none other than Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!

Starring Kim's Convenience star Simu Liu alongside The Farewell's Awkwafina and Hollywood icon Michelle Yeoh, Shang-Chi is Marvel's first primarily Asian-led superhero flick, and tells the story of the titular hero "who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization," according to the official description.

And the first teaser trailer was just released earlier today!

"Whoever said that you could only RECEIVE presents on your birthday?" Shang-Chi lead Simu wrote on Twitter, sharing the first teaser poster for the film with his fans. "Today, I’m giving you your VERY FIRST LOOK at the teaser poster for @ShangChi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!!"

"WE’RE ALMOST THERE, PEOPLE!!!!" he continued.

It's been a long time coming, but Asian-Americans can finally see themselves represented in their fave big-screen superhero franchise, and we love to see it!

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hits theaters on September 3.
