Move over Animal Crossing! A new game is winning big with queer audiences.

Super Lesbian Animal RPG is exactly what the title suggests — a role-playing game centered around queer anthropomorphic animals, and about “love, anxiety, and fighting funny looking monsters,” per the official website.

“It follows the stories of Melody, her girlfriend Allison, and their friends Claire, a rule-bending witch, and Jodie, a dependable knight,” the summary continues. “Over the course of their journey, our inexperienced heroes will meddle with forces beyond their control and find themselves responsible for the fate of their hometown.”

A 2018 demo also noted that Melody is a “kindhearted but meek transgender fox” and that her story starts when she realizes she’s in love with her best friend Allison, who desperately wants to go on adventures — so Melody decides to join her.

PC Gamer first drew attention to the positive reviews rolling in for the game, which is currently available on Steam, noting that 98% of players who had taken time to leave feedback had great things to say about the gameplay experience.

And indeed, it already seems to be collecting a devoted following, with people already chatting about it and creating their own fan art on social media.

Gamers interested in sweet, character-driven RPGs with a queer slant will likely get a kick out of SLARPG — and as an added bonus, there’s even a prequel comic online to get players ready to jump into the world, already invested.
