There’s no denying that the LGBTQ community loves Animal Crossing. Probably because it’s just a game about folks trying to live their cute, drama free lives, and lord knows we could all use a little more of that.

And the popular game just got a little more friendly towards our community, announcing that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will allow for gender fluid customization of your avatar.

Like with many video games, it used to be that your avatar’s options for hairstyles and facial features were tied to the gender you chose for your character at the start of the game. But that’s no longer the case. Rather than picking a gender at all, it looks like you just start straight off with the customization options in the new game, with every option available to choose from.

The response online has been largely positive, with many thrilled by this progressive un-gendered approach to playing a character, and many more just happy they aren’t stuck with outdated ideas of gender presentation.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is set to hit stores on March 20th of this year, and will be available to play on Nintendo Switch.
