Each day we’re granted the opportunity to start over and try again. As werking professionals, this "restart" can come in handy. When given the opportunity to try again, what will you do differently?

Implementing a morning mantra or a series of positive affirmations can be of a tremendous help. An affirmation typically is a sentence or phrase you recite routinely to make a formal declaration to yourself and the universe. To "affirm" by dictionary definition, means to declare something as true. Affirmations can boost your spirit to new levels, while also keeping yourself on track with your goals for the day. As members of the LGBT communit, support will not always be readily available, so why not encourage yourself?

Here are 9 affirmations to help you do so!

1. “Today is going to be a good day.”

This is a great affirmation to help you kickstart your day! Sometimes all you need is a simple reminder and push from positivity. Let this affirmation start your day and carry it with you all the way through.

2. “Today I choose to create magic, not excuses.”

Maintaining productivity can be hard. Tasks can pile up and unforeseen problems can arise. Use this affirmation as a reminder that, no matter what, you can cross that "thing" off your to-do list. Just buckle down and focus. Another great affirmation to start your day with.

3. “I am comfortable asking for what I want because I know I deserve it.”

It can be extremely tough to vocalize our wants, especially to others but also ourselves! Recite this affirmation to remind yourself that you are deserving of all the things you want, you just have to believe it! Use this affirmation as a courage booster so you can walk into any room and demand what is rightfully yours.

4. “I give myself permission to shine.”

Sometimes the person standing in our way is not our adversary, it’s ourselves. Our own insecurities and fears will push us to the sidelines and cause us to stick to what we know as comfortable. Use this affirmation to get out of your head and out of your own way!

5. “Today I choose to focus only on what I can control.”

Instead of wasting time trying to fix what is beyond your reach, give your time and attention to what you have control over. Let this affirmation be a reminder to focus on what is within your reach.

6. “I surround myself around love and light.”

When trying to live your best life, surrounding yourself with the right people can do the trick. Use this affirmation as a reminder to be selective with who you share space with.

7. “I am in charge of my own happiness.”

Once you realize you are the only one in control of your happiness, you will stop acting and reacting to others in ways that will compromise your joy as a means for them to make you happy. You are the only one capable of doing that. Recite this affirmation daily and allow all the smiles and good feels to flow.

8. “I remove all negativity from my life. I’m making space for success.”

Occasionally, you have to clean your space of things (and people) that are no longer serving a positive purpose in your life. Replace these things and these people with success and opportunity. Let this affirmation ignite the cleansing process.

9. “I embrace my full potential, even when it makes others uncomfortable.”

We are who we are, and there’s no way around it. Once we allow ourselves to be our true, authentic selves, we will truly begin to live. When you shape your life around the comfortability of others, you close yourself off to what life can offer you. Live your life and love the life you choose to live. Declare this affirmation at the top of your lungs. Who cares who hears?
