It was a little over a year ago when Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election—a haunting night that forever changed the course of history. Days after, Kate McKinnon gave a heartfelt and Emmy-winning performance as Clinton, where she sang Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” on SNL.

Well, Hillary Clinton tuned into SNL that evening and watched the emotional performance. Clinton shared her response to seeing McKinnon sing live in her book, What Happened?

"On the Saturday after the election, I turned on Saturday Night Live and watched Kate McKinnon open the show with her impression of me one more time," Clinton wrote in her memoir. "She sat at a grand piano and played "Hallelujah," the hauntingly beautiful song by Leonard Cohen, who had died days before. As she sang, it seemed like she was fighting back tears. Listening, so was I."

McKinnon was listening to the audiobook while walking down the streets of Manhattan, when she heard her name mentioned. She shared her priceless response to be mentioned in Hillary Clinton’s memoir with Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show before going into a hilarious Gal Gadot impression.
