Boy Meets Boy in Netflix’s Heartstopper Trailer & We’re Squealing

Fans of the comic Heartstopper have been eagerly awaiting any and all information about the upcoming Netflix adaptation. And now, a trailer is finally here.

The eight-episode series will follow Charlie (Joe Locke) as he meets rugby player Nick (Kit Connor) at his British grammar school and slowly begins to fall for him, despite not knowing if he could feel the same way.

The trailer is already heavy on that all too familiar teen pining, and promises a sweet romance-centered story that just allows boys to boys, falling in love.

Both the webcomic that originated the world of Heartstopper and the new series are helmed by Alice Oseman, which seems to have been a good choice for those hoping the adaptation wouldn’t stray too far from the source material — fans have already excitedly been pointing out the moments and images in the trailer that appear to have been directly lifted from the panels.

Executive producer Patrick Walters previously described Heartstopper as a “joyful tonic for these troubled times,” calling it “an affecting graphic novel that’s on-screen version will pack a real emotional punch for today’s LGBTQIA+ teens.”

Details about the series have been kept somewhat under wraps, with Netflix previously only dropping first looks at the cast of characters that surround Charlie and Nick.

But the wait for more infowill soon come to an end — Heartstopper is expected to his Netflix in its entirety on April 22.
