There were proverbial wedding bells for same-sex couples throughout England and Wales this weekend once couples could legally wed in England and Wales. While “civil partnerships” have been legal there since 2005, and same-sex marriage was declared legal last July, this Saturday marked the beginning of legal marriages there.
Nikki Petit (left in the photos) and Tanya Ward (right) were among those couples that took full advantage of the new law and married in the wonderfully gay-friendly city of Brighton as soon as the new law went into effect at Midnight on March 29.
Congratulations to Nikki, Tanya and all of the happy couples!
