Ellen Page is set to play Lance Corporal Leslie Martz in Lioness, a biographical drama about Martz's experience as a U.S. Marine stationed in Haditha, Iraq, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Lioness, written by Rosalind Ross, tells the story of hwo Martz, who was not out while in the military, was assigned to win the trust of certain Afghan women by affording them tools to gain their independence while simulataneously extracting information from them about their husbands in the Taliban, according to THR.  

Martz struggled with her allegiance to her superiors and country while also developing a rapport with the women and children she interacted with, according to THR. 

While Lioness is in the early stages and currently has no director attached, Page's civil rights passion project Freeheld, costarring Julianne Moore as her partner in the film, hits theaters Oct. 2. Next up, Page and Evan Rachel Wood play sisters in Patricia Rozema's dystopian flick Into the Forest.
