The First 'Daddy Issues' Zine Is a Celebration of the Male Body
In just under a year and a half, Daddy Issues has gone from a small, queer basement party in London to its own brand with monthly events in the UK, Madrid, and Los Angeles, a merch line of eight t-shirt designs (as well as speedos), and now, a zine. That’s a lot of ground covered with more expansions like pop-ups in New York, San Francisco, and Mexico on the way, but it’s all par the course for the event's founders Oly Innes and Borja Peña.
"I grew up obsessed with queer pin up zines," Innes said of the zine, which came underwritten mostly by Pure for Men and is available for purchse online and in-print (physical will be given out at Daddy Issues LA this Thursday). "I loved Butt magazine, as did everyone else. I wanted to create something that had that feeling. I wanted it to have a Playboy sort of vibe."
To evoke all of that, the team tapped Toronto-based photographer Christopher Sherman for the 52-page, pocket-sized glossy.
