Lady Gaga’s “Hair” is Freedom Personified: Listen!

Another day, another single for Lady Gaga. Just as you were learning the lyrics to "Judas" and "Edge of Glory," Gaga is releasing her latest single off her album Born This Way today. “Hair” is yet another track about self-appreciation, empowerment and freedom.

Another day, another single for Lady Gaga.

Just as you were learning the lyrics to "Judas" and "Edge of Glory," Gaga is releasing her latest single off her album Born This Way today. “Hair” is yet another track about self-appreciation, empowerment and freedom.

“I won't change it, because of your taste.  This is me, this is my hair,” she sings.  “I've had enough, this is my prayer, that I'll die living just as free as my hair. Don't let it go. It's my identity and I'll die living just as free as my hair.”

The saxophone and piano beneath Gaga’s vocals gives it an 80’s feel. I imagine Michael Bolton playing romantically in the background with a spot light on him while Gaga’s in the foreground dancing like a maniac on the floor. You know, dancing like she’s never danced before. As the song progresses, she brings it back to modern times, complete with a bit of electronica and an auto tuned chant, “Free as my ha-a-a-a-air.”

It’s really pop and conveys a cute, catchy message. Maybe, a bit too much for me to appreciate while in my car, but perfect to dance to after a few stiff mojitos at The Abbey. Party on, little monsters!
