Rent, the groundbreaking 1994 musical by Jonathan Larson that features gay and lesbian characters and deals with HIV issues, will be revived off-Broadway in June with a cast of unknown actors.
According to the New York Post, original director Michael Greig will stage the show at the New World Stages after the Tony Awards.
The original Rent launched the careers of stars including Idina Menzel, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Anthony Rapp, Taye Diggs and Adam Pascal. It won four Tony Awards and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, closing in 2008 after 5,124 performances.
