This Grammy-nominated artist isn't slowing down his career for love.

Lil Nas X had one hell of a year last year. From owning the Billboard charts to coming out as gay to breaking records and getting award nominations left and right, the newcomer burst onto the music scene with a vengeance and has hardly slowed down for a second.

All that to say, when it comes to his love life, Lil Nas is a lil too busy to contemplate it.

In a recent interview with Variety, the Grammy-nominated artist shared that while he’s met some great people lately, this doesn’t seem like an opportune time to try to commit to anyone.

“Relationships are hard because either I end up being too busy or I end up falling for another person,” he admits. “I fall super-easily.”

Because his coming out was so sudden and unplanned, Lil Nas has been opening up about it gradually ever since that day last summer.

Variety notes that the “Old Town Road” singer didn’t consult anyone on his team before sending his low-key coming out tweet — not managers, not publicists, and definitely not the head of his record label. The only person he spoke to beforehand was his dad, because Nas hadn’t come out to him yet and didn’t want him to find out via the internet.

“We have become closer,” he says. “I mean, especially now because I don’t have anything to hide.”

Much like Nas’s coming out surprised the world, it also surprised the man who raised him. And will still take some getting used to for the star’s family.

“It was a shock to him. It’s still the beginning phase. I’m not comfortable bringing a guy around yet.”

Not that he has the time when he’s so busy hurtling through the music world towards superstardom. But maybe one day.
