Michael Henry and friends discuss public displays of affection in his latest comedy sketch.
How do you feel about public displays of affection?
Some people are fine with it and don't mind when couples engage in it...
...but a lot of people just flat out seem to completely hate it.
The reasons for the general dislike of being boo'd up in public range anywhere from "it's show-offy and obnoxious" to "it makes others uncomfortable," but where do gay couples fit into that conversation? Especially since up until recently, queer people couldn't be as open and public about their relationships as they are now. Shoot, there are still places all over the country, and the world, where being openly affectionate with someone of the same gender is seriously taboo.
In comedian and content creator Michael Henry's latest YouTube skit, he and a couple of his (socially-distanced) besties engage in a lively (and funny AF) public debate about PDA, and why they do (or don't) like it.
"What? I love it! Hugs and kisses!" Michael says when his friends (Chris Renfro and Michael Fariss) tell him they're not really into PDA all that much. When they reveal that they like raunchier public displays (like sex) but not more innocent acts (like holding hands), Michael starts to rightfully question their hang-ups.
"This is wild!" Michael proclaims when Chris and Michael say they're okay with scenarios like public rimming and parking lot hookups, but not okay with hand-holding or expressing feelings. "I like public sex as much as the next homo, but I also like being affectionate in public and letting everyone know that this is my guy!"
