Royal Lesbian Albatrosses Hatch-Yet-to-Be-Named Baby Albatross

A name is being sought for a baby albatross who will be hatched by a pair of lesbian royal albatrosses in New Zealand. The chick is expected to hatch in January. Earlier reports indicate that it's the third time a female pairing has been recorded in Taiaroa Head, known as the only mainland albatross breeding colony in the world.

The chick is expected to hatch in January, according to Gay New Zealand. Earlier reports indicate that it's the third time a female pairing has been recorded in Taiaroa Head, known as the only mainland albatross breeding colony in the world.  As an adult the albatross will take its first flight, where it will stay at sea for up to six years without touching land.

Suggestions for names can be passed along to Heather Mollins at Tourism Dunedin (hmollins@tourismdunedin.co.nz). Names will be passed on to the Royal Albatross Center for consideration.
