1. Her masculinity is hot.

2. She’s comfortable in her skin.

Living a life being oppressed in some way by feminine social constructs is hard but it makes butch women stronger because they had to face a lot of adversity to become super comfortable with who they are.

3. She’s chivalrous.

Not a rule, but pretty prevalent among androgynous and butch women. Doesn’t mean any/all queer women aren’t chivalrous, just means we all see it more from butch girls!

4. She is proud to be queer.

Being butch is an uphill battle even today, and means a life where she’s routinely being mistaken for a boy, given hurtful looks by bigot strangers and the victim of annoying/prying questions. To date a butch woman means you’re dating a girl who is confident and proud to be who she is, queer and all.

5. She wears cologne—and smells delicious.

What woman doesn’t love inhaling fresh, cologne-scented skin while nestling your face into another woman’s neck? Nobody. Even she likes it.

Although there are greater fashion offenses than matching with your girl, the likelihood that you’ll match with her lessens when she’s butch (unless you’re both fall more on the masculine fashion spectrum). But again, there are great fashion offenses. Far greater.
