My twin sister and I have been wearing "boy clothes" our entire lives. We’ve always credited our wider, stronger statures (we’re short Latina women).
Men's clothing simply fits better. But, we also prefer men's clothing because women's clothing is needlessly stupid; the fabric is thinner, the pockets are faux, and the sizes ... well, unless you're a two, nothing fits right.
Anyway, with a lifelong reverence for menswear, we know which brands to turn to, and have favorites. Here's a lit of our eight fav menswear brands.
1. All Saints
Although they’re pricey, the clothing is SO cream. Peep their trousers; they're definitely worth a sport on your holiday gift wish list.
2. Levi’s
Obviously this heritage denim brand kicks ass, but have you looked at their menswear?! Start with a jean jacket (the women's jackets is too short), and then graduate to work shirts.
It's East coast proper, but they’ll surprise you with their outerwear and sweater offerings. I’m a big fan of their cold-weather accessories, too.
4. Obey
I've been part of the skater scene my whole life, so I’m partial to skate brands. But, Obey is dope. Their cool designs are all commissioned by Shepard Fairey. Yaaas!
5. L.L.Bean
When I was younger, I wrote L.L.Bean off completely. It all felt very "mom catalogue" to me, but as an adult, I’m a huge fan. Their men's collection is top quality and looks amazing.
6. LRG
Their recent foray into the jogger pants scene sent me over the moon. They not only sell jogger sweats, but the chino type, too. Translation: they’re work appropriate.
7. Vans
This one's a no-brainer. Vans has created surf/skate apparel since forever, and I’ve been a Vans girl the whole time. Easily the most owned shoe I have, Vans is a great resource for hats, socks, shirts, sweatshirts, and snow gear! Who knew?! (I did…)
8. Calvin Klein
If you don’t own a pair of Calvin Klein underwear (and sports bra) that's a good place to start. But, they're also great for the basics like their pima cotton V-neck shirts.
