Over the weekend, the comedians at Saturday Night Live got in on the action and took on "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and gay rights in an opening segment spoofing Greta van Susteren's On the Record.
Towleroadreports that with DADT awaiting a long overdue repeal, four spot-on comedians appeared on the SNL faux Fox news channel, spoofing the Republican party and their salacious reasons behind keeping the 17-year-old military policy.
The bit begins with the charming host Greta (Kristen Wiig) as she welcomes to her illicit panel of speakers: former Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove (Bobby Moynihan), Col. Oliver North (Will Forte) and a woman referred to as only "attractive blonde lady." An obligatory Democrat, Robert Gibbs, was also seated at the panel and in true Fox form, he was ignored at every turn.
In the SNL spoof, Rove laments that DADT "has worked very well...it allows members of our military to be gay, but not too gay."
"If we give gay men and gay women equal rights pretty soon we'll be giving all Americans equal rights...and then where will we be?" a faux Col. North adds.
