A lesbian couple from Iowa is speaking out after a baker rejected their request to make their wedding cake.
Engaged couple Trina Vodraska and Janelle Sievers went in for an tasting appointment with the baker on Thursday afternoon for their June wedding.
Baker Victoria Childress told the couple that she would have to refuse their business because of her Christian beliefs, according to KCCI News.
"I said that was fine and I appreciated her being honest," Vodraska said. Her fiancée added that they were caught off-guard by the refusal. However, Childress said it was her right as a business owner to refuse the couple's business.
"It is my right, and it's not to discriminate against them," she said. "It's not so much to do with them, it's to do with me and my walk with God and what I will answer [to] him for."
