Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and more rocked fierce frocks at the annual New York gala.

The good the bad and the definitely interesting came out Monday for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual fundraiser The Met Gala, basically the be-all/end-all of costume parties! The theme this year was China: Through the Looking Glass, which is basically a ramping up for the Met's exhibition of the same name. While some costumes embodied that theme better than others there was no shortage of elegant, wild, and inscrutable couture to be found on the 150-foot red carpet leading up to the museum. Among the guests were several out women and LGBT allies. Here's a round up of some of our faves!

Cara Delevingne - simply killing it.

When Gaga is the most reserved you know it's going to be a wild night.

J. Crew CEO Jenna Lyons rocking a suit of sorts.

Miley Cyrus has something really important to say to Zoe Kravitz.

Rihanna FTW!

We know Katy Perry is showing off her nails, but we are more interested in that cute haircut.

The Fosters executive producer Jennifer Lopez - just wow.

Ellen Page's bestie Kate Mara looks fab.

Everyone can go home. Kerry Washington has arrived.

Anne Hathaway in intergalactic chic.

Reese Witherspoon keeps it classic.

As does Rose Byrne.

Jessica Chastain is statuesque.

The always stunning Julianne Moore.

Madonna's been drinking from her fountain of youth again.
