'Don't Trust the B----in Apartment 23' Created by Out Showrunner Nahnatchka Khan

ABC is set to premiere its newest midseason comedy, Don’t Trust the B----in Apartment 23, starring Dreama Walker (The Good Wife) and Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad), and the sitcom’s out creator Nahnatchka Khan (American Dad!) is convinced that her show will appeal to everyone, from straight women to lesbians, according to AfterEllen.

B is a fish out of water story, following June (Walker), a naïve mid-westerner who moves to NYC to start a career in the big city.  Just like most sitcoms, June’s plan doesn’t go as expected, and she ends up stuck in an apartment with Chloe (Ritter), a sexually-charged party girl from hell. 

"I think [gay women] would really like the women behaving badly thing — doing something at first that doesn't seem great and certainly not typical," Khan (pictured with James Van Der Beek and Ritter) told AE.

And even though the two roomies appear straight, and the writers “have no current plans” for the women to become romantically involved, Khan isn’t ruling out the possibility of a female relationship in the story line, she told AE.

"I think there is definitely a chance," she said. "Like Laverne and Shirley, right? So I think it's always a part of it. Trying to read the signs but it's certainly not anything that conscience.”

From the very beginning of the show, Chloe crosses some lines and the idea that at least one of them could be open to being “friends with benefits” comes into question as June puts up with Chloe's endless groping.  "It started in a couple episodes where there was a storyline where she was trying to make me uncomfortable and touch me," Walker said, "and then it was episode after episode that it was written in that she would touch my butt or touch my boob or whatever.”

But, Ritter doesn’t appear to be phased by her characters flirtation with girl-on-girl action.  "My character is so free," Ritter said. "She's not defined by sexuality at all so that's a fun thing to play with. Dreama and I joke often about the amount that she's getting groped by me. We have become lesbian lovers and she's the wife. "

Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23premieres on ABC on April 11^th at 9:30pm ET, but the network is offering a sneak peak of the first two episodes on ABC.com.
