Of course, we’ve known about Ruby Rose for nearly 10 years, but she’s about to go very mainstream. The Australian native’s nine-episode arc on Orange Is the New Black certainly helped propel her star power here in the United States. But she appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’s show on Tuesday, and that’s about as big of an audience you can get.

In her interview with Ellen, Ruby explains that she was cast in Orange Is the New Black once her short film Break Free, about gender fluidity, went viral a few years back. We wish Ruby had gotten a chance to discuss that short film in detail with Ellen, but you can’t have it all. Instead, she chatted with Ellen about her upcoming roles in Pitch Perfect 3 (apparently she sang in a church choir as a kid), and in the Vin Diesel action flick xXx: The Return of Xander Cage(in which the trailer makes it seem as though Ruby may be playing a queer character).

Watch Ruby with Ellen here.

And in case you're having trouble remembering Break Free, here's a reminder.
